Description
Join us as we head to Wallonia as the Belgium carnival calendar starts with a bang with one of the oldest,
most unique folklore carnivals in the world. The historic walled city of Binche comes alive as it hosts this
extravaganza that is so unique it is recognized by UNESCO for its cultural significance. If you are lucky
enough you may catch one of the oranges thrown into the crowd on Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras by a
Gille, bringing you luck for the rest of the year. Enjoy the finale atmosphere where all the characters of the
carnival join in the main square surrounded by musicians, sparkling Bengal lights and fireworks that reflect
shadows on the houses around the fairytale City Hall.
