Lancashire - Rail & Seaside
Day 1 Join the coach at your chosen point heading to interchange and onwards north with ample courtesy stops on the way. Arrive at the 4* Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hall Hotel & Spa late afternoon for the next 4 nights. DBBA fun quiz will be distributed today which you may like to complete (either on your own or perhaps team up with a fellow traveller) for a chance to win a £20 Crusader Holidays voucher. Perhaps compare notes this evening when you meet for a glass of Prosecco before dinner in the barDays 2 - 4 At leisure in Lancashire with three included excursionsEast Lancashire Railway (ELR) & Bury Market - WednesdayStart your day at the northern end of the ELR at the heritage station of Rawtenstall where you step back in time for a nostalgic trip aboard the East Lancashire Railway (may operate by steam or diesel). Enjoy the journey through the beautiful Lancashire countryside to the market town of Bury where a warm welcome awaits at the world-famous Bury Market, the undisputed champion of the North. Attracting hundreds of visitors every week, Bury Market oozes atmosphere and ambience with a range of products and facilities second to none. Bury Market makes a great trip out and is fully accessible for disabled visitors. Expect great people and great characters and over 200 unique stalls to explore across a Market Hall, Open Market, Fish & Meat Hall and Market Parade. From exotic indulgences to everyday necessities you're sure to find what you are looking for at Bury Market.BlackpoolBlackpool is unashamedly brash and full of old-school amusements and entertainment! If you've been before then you know and if you haven't then it's high time you discovered that Blackpool really is worth a visit. Daytime is playtime with all the fun of the Tower, Pleasure Beach and the Golden Mile. With seven miles of beach - the tide ebb is half a mile, leaving plenty of sand at low tide - a revamped prom and an increasingly attractive, gentrified centre, there is more to Blackpool than just amusements. You may like to visit the brand-new Blackpool attraction, Showtown - the Museum of Fun & Entertainment (entrance approx. £15 pp in 2024)Dip into the DalesOff to Skipton - the charming Dales town with immense history, a rich culture, independent shops, food & drink places galore, an iconic castle, stunning countryside and, perhaps most of all, friendly, fiercely proud and passionate Yorkshire people. Explore at your leisure before continuing to lovely Haworth, a picturesque village surrounded by dramatic moorland and a haven for independent businesses, art galleries, boutiques and then an array of places to eat and drink. Spend your time browsing up and down the cobbled Main Street and fans of the Brontë sisters may want to visit the Brontë Parsonage, home to the Brontë family from 1820 and now a beautifully preserved museum (entrance not included - approx. £12.50 in 2024 - pre-booking may be required).Day 5 - Enjoy breakfast, check out and re-join the coach for your journey back to the local area.Comfort stops will be made before you reach interchange.
