Immerse yourself in a bygone era during our two-day break to Ironbridge and Blists Hill Victorian Town, where character-filled streets and spectacular local scenery combine. This delightful living museum brings to life all the sights, smells, fashion and charm of the Victorian era, creating an interactive representation that's accurate to the last detail, from the shop fronts to the working blacksmiths! We also take in the famous monument of Ironbridge (the very first iron bridge in the world), erected over the River Severn in the late 18th century and spend some free time in the storied city of Birmingham.

Ironbridge\nFor our first visit we head to the village of Ironbridge, lying at the heart of the deep Ironbridge Gorge known as the 'Valley of Invention', to admire the impressive cast-iron bridge. Built in 1779, it's a spectacular symbol of the Industrial Revolution and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.\n\n\nBlists Hill Victorian Town\nA charming time travel experience is just around the cobbled-corner at the award-winning Blists Hill Victorian Town. With every step we take a glimpse into the past and discover what it was like to live and work a traditional Victorian life, from the town bank and fairground to the train ride into the mine. Everything is authentic, including household ornaments and the piano in the pub! See craftspeople demonstrate their trades, meet the Victorian townsfolk, take a ride in an open horse and cart, visit a Victorian shop and eat classic dishes like fish and chips.\n\n\nBirmingham\nWe spend some time in Birmingham, a vibrant metropolis brimming with popular attractions. Once known as the city of a thousand trades due to its rich manufacturing heritage, the city is now recognised as the UK's ultimate shopping destination. As well as a spot of retail therapy, enjoy a dose of culture in the many museums and galleries, stroll through the many parks or enjoy a scenic walk by the canals. At Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, you can explore 40 fascinating galleries, including the largest collection of pre-Raphaelite artwork in the world, whilst Ikon is one of Europe's leading contemporary art galleries.

Ironbridge
At the heart of the deep Ironbridge Gorge, with its exposed iron, limestone and fireclay lies the village of Ironbridge in Telford, Shropshire.
Called the 'Valley of Invention', Ironbridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to many award-winning museums, which stretch along six miles of the River Thames including the Museum of the Gorge, located close to the Ironbridge itself.
The impressive cast iron bridge was built in 1779, and the Ironbridge Gorge is widely regarded as the birthplace of the industrial Revolution. A few years ago, English Heritage undertook a £3.6 million conservation project on the iron bridge, and it continues to be a very popular tourist destination, attracting many visitors every day.

Blists Hill Victorian Town
A charming time travel experience is just around the cobbled-corner when you visit the award-winning Blists Hill Victorian Town. A fun family day out, with every step you'll take a glimpse into the past and discover what it was like to live and work a traditional Victorian life.
