Optional Excursion
Barnstaple Market - £11pp (half day)Join our optional excursion where we visit the historic town of Barnstaple, one of the UK's oldest boroughs, and famous for the Pannier Market, one of the Britain's largest indoor markets. Since Saxon times, Barnstaple has served as a market town to the surrounding countryside. Woolacombe
It's easy to see why visitors return year after year to the seaside resort of Woolacombe, a real gem on the spectacular North Devon coast. Offering lovely views across to Lundy Island, the stunning three-mile beach has won a whole host of awards, including the Best Beach in the UK on Tripadvisor and a Premier Seaside Beach Award for its cleanliness.
There are a range of activities on offer, from dune running and zorbing to horse riding and surfing, or you can take a catamaran trip to soak up the glorious scenery while looking out for seals and dolphins. The village itself is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and there are plenty of cafés, restaurants and shops to discover.

Bursting with medieval charm, Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon and one of the oldest boroughs in England. Barnstaple remains a thriving market town and is characterised by its picturesque narrow streets, historic buildings and preserved centre.
Discover the remnants of the Norman castle in the oldest part of the town, stroll along the 13th-century Long Bridge and learn more about the history of the area at the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, where the displays range from prehistoric times to the Victorian era.
