Once a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror, it covers an area of 566 square kilometres and is made up of vast tracts of unspoilt woodland, heathland and river valleys. Today deer, ponies and cattle continue to roam free in its ancient heaths and woodland as well as through the quaint traditional villages. From the hotel travel eastwards past Christchurch to the historic market town of Lymington, with its charming cobbled streets and old buildings, a great place for a spot of shopping. Its location at the mouth of the Lymington River has resulted in a colourful history of smuggling, shipbuilding, and sailing. Watch fishing boats and yachts coming and going from the Quay. Some free time here before heading northwards to Lyndhurst often referred to as the 'capital' of the New Forest. The Court of Verderers has been held here since medieval times - making it the longest-running court in the country - controlling the number of ponies which can graze in the Forest. The New Forest Visitor Centre (free entry) - with museum, gallery, information centre, and shop is well worth a visit. Time here for a bite to eat and sightseeing. Return to the hotel late afternoon via Burley..Poole & Cruise to Swanage (4 & 5 Days only)\nStart your day on charming Poole Quay before boarding your boat for a scenic cruise (approx. 1 hour & included) to the Victorian resort of Swanage, passing Brownsea Island, the beaches of Studland Bay and the opening cliffs of the Jurassic coast. Arrive at Swanage pier to spend some time in this popular coastal town, transformed during the Victorian era into a seaside favourite and now a well-established atmospheric resort with a long beach, interesting shops, fresh clean air and rich heritage. Your driver will transfer you back to Bournemouth later in the afternoonBeaulieuNational Motor Museum, Palace House & Gardens, Beaulieu Abbey, (6 & 7 Days only)\nWorld of Top Gear... there is so much to do here! With over 800 years of history to be seen on the Beaulieu Estate in the heart of the New Forest National Park, there is something for everyone. If your passion is history, heritage and architecture, why not stroll the Palace House, home of the Montagu family since 1538? For the green-thumbed, why not admire the grounds and gardens?
