Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Black Country Living Museum, Bridgnorth, River Severn Cruise, Shrewsbury, Worcester
Once the backbone of England's industrial heartland, the Black Country is now revitalised as one of Britain's most surprising tourist secrets. The Black Country Living Museum will take you back to this time, offering nostalgia from a vintage era, and we have included some memorable journeys through the unspoilt Shropshire and Severn Valley countryside by road and river. Scenic treats and historic treasures await in this relatively under-explored and under-rated corner of England.
**Please note it is a condition of travel with Grand UK, for all passengers to hold valid travel insurance for the duration of their tour.**
Itinerary
Excursions
EXTENDED HALF DAY: Today we head for Dudley to visit the award winning Black Country Living Museum. Covering 26 acres of former industrial land this open air museum is uniquely placed to tell the story of the world's first industrial landscape.
FULL DAY: This morning to pretty Bridgnorth, in reality two towns - the low town beside the River Severn and the castled high town - connected by the steepest inland funicular railway in Britain. From here we drive through the pretty Severn Valley to Kidderminster, before we reach the cathedral city of Worcester where there is time to explore.
EXTENDED HALF DAY: This morning to the pretty market town of Shrewsbury where we include a cruise on the River Severn aboard the popular Sabrina Boats leisure cruiser with tea and biscuits included. Afterwards enjoy some free time in Shrewsbury before we return through the Shropshire countryside.
