Whitby
Whitby is a town that offers you something a little bit different to the 'typical' coastal resort! Here, you can explore ornate cobbled paths, locally owned shops and quirky cafes, giving the town a unique, welcoming atmosphere. One of the most iconic parts of this lovely town is the famous gothic abbey, said to have inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula. Founded in 657, Whitby Abbey is over 2,000 years old and has so many fascinating stories for you to discover!

The lovely beach and harbour are also a favourite spot amongst locals and tourists alike, with boat trips available to see the North Yorkshire coast from a new perspective. This is also one of the few places in the UK where you can see the sun both rise and set over the ocean, making the pier perfect for an evening walk! There's lots to do in the town itself too, such as the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Whitby Brewery and Whitby Jet Museum. If you're a fan of walking then you'll be spoilt for choice, with many routes in and around Whitby, exploring cliffs, woods, country lanes and beaches.
