There is something magical about the Cotswolds. Maybe it is the rolling hills, or perhaps the fairy-tale villages but one thing is certain when you visit the Cotswolds you will feel transported back in time. Your route will take you via picturesque Broadway (the Jewel of the Cotswolds) - so called due to its wide High Street lined with horse chestnut trees and pretty period houses and cottages made from the honey-coloured Cotswolds stone. Onto Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds, with its impressive large Market Square as well as the enchanting door of St Edwards Church, locked between two trees and rumoured to be the inspiration of JRR Tolkien's 'Doors of Durin' in Lord of the Rings. Just up the road, Moreton-in-Marsh has been welcoming travellers for over 1700 years since the Romans built the Fosse Way.
