In contrast, Wells is home to England's first Gothic cathedral, still intact and the reason for Wells being the smallest 'city' in England.Cheddar village & scenic drive through Cheddar Gorge (half day)On our half-day excursion, we head to Cheddar village, known as the origin of Cheddar cheese, which has been produced here since the 12th century. The village offers many tea rooms, gift shops and, of course, the Cheddar Cheese factory. We then enjoy a scenic drive through the magnificent limestone Cheddar Gorge. Classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Britain's largest gorge has dramatic cliffs rising up 450ft and stunning stalactite caverns.Optional ExcursionBath - £14pp (full day)The historic city of Bath has remained faithful to its Regency roots, with an abundance of elegant terraces, circuses and squares in a picturesque valley setting. The magnificent Royal Crescent is a must-see and the central square is home not only to Bath Abbey, but also the ancient Roman Baths. The city has an excellent selection of shops; especially along the Pulteney Bridge, one of only four bridges in the world to feature shops across its full span on both sides.

Bath
Delightful Bath is the only city in the UK to be named a World Heritage Site. Rich in diversity, its most famous attraction is of course its natural hot springs at the Roman Baths, a magnificent temple and bathing complex.\n\nRenowned for its stunning architecture, this wonderful city has something to see at every turn. Marvel at the stunning Bath Abbey, the last of the great medieval churches of England, visit the many museums including the Jane Austen Centre, stroll through the beautiful parks and gardens, browse the many fantastic shops this picturesque city has to offer or enjoy afternoon tea at the magnificent 18th-century Pump Room.

Wells
With its stunning location at the foot of the Mendip Hills in the heart of Somerset, Wells is a delightful place to visit. England's smallest city is renowned for its well-preserved historic centre of narrow streets and medieval architecture, as well as the glorious cathedral and ancient moated Bishop's Palace, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for 800 years. Wells has plenty more to offer, from cosmopolitan pavement cafés to traditional inns and independent retailers to major high street names.
