Itinerary
Weekend break in Lincolnshire
Day 1\nAfter boarding your holiday coach, head to Ely - England's smallest city, with its monastic buildings and its Cathedral dating back to 1081. Arrive at your hotel later this afternoon for the next 2 nights with breakfast and dinner included.\n\nDay 2\nSnowdrops at Easton Walled Gardens and Stamford\nEaston Walled Gardens are the 'lost gardens' of Lincolnshire where a country house was demolished and the gardens abandoned for fifty years. Since 2001, the ancient estate has been restored and is now formed of upper and lower gardens. Enjoy the first new growth of the year as it emerges, and snowdrops open across the gardens with early flowers complimenting drifts of snowdrops throughout the 400-year-old gardens. Along the woodland banks, snowdrops cascade down towards the River Witham. The path winds through ash trees and the water's edge is dotted with early daffodils - a sight to behold. The Courtyard Shop and the Coffee Room will be open. Please note most paths are accessible but there are some steep slopes, steps and woodchip surfaces.\n\nThis afternoon head to bustling Stamford, 'the finest stone town in England' with its unique blend of Georgian architecture and history. Stamford's narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards are home to a variety of speciality shops, fine jewellers and designer boutiques, whilst the High Street has a great choice of independent and recognised retailers. Declared a conservation area in 1967, it has over 600 listed buildings of mellow limestone including five medieval churches. Stamford is unanimously considered a charming, character-filled and picturesque destination.\n\nDay 3\nCambridge\nAfter breakfast check out and join the coach to explore captivating Cambridge, abounding with exquisite architecture and renowned for its quirky rituals, it is a university town extraordinaire, brimming with history, tradition and scholarly charm. Handsome facades of the ancient colleges dominate the layout of the centre, lining up along the main streets. The buildings here seem unchanged for centuries, and it's possible to wander around some of the college grounds (opening times vary and charges may apply) and experience them as countless prime ministers, poets, writers and scientists have done. Your driver may be able to offer you an optional city tour. Re-join the coach to head back to interchange and the journey back home.
