Explore this stunning part of England and discover an area of natural beauty with historic landmarks and magnificent views at every turn. We venture across Northumberland on the scenic northeast coast drive to spend time in Alnwick, renowned for its impressive medieval castle. Our excursions take us to Newcastle, a city full of historic wonders and Durham, a University Town with impressive charm and character. To round up these fantastic four days away, we also have a photo opportunity at the famous Angel of the North sculpture, in Gateshead.

Included ExcursionsNorth East Coast Drive & Newcastle (full day)We board the coach and head to Alnwick, taking in the beautiful views of the northeast coast along the way. Alnwick is a charming and historic market town, nestled in the heart of Northumberland, England. Known for its stunning medieval castle, which served as a filming location for the famous Harry Potter movies. Next, we visit the prestigious city of Newcastle, home to an abundance of fascinating history and heritage, with the superb Cathedral Church of St Nicholas and Newcastle Castle - a medieval fortress originally built to guard the bridge over the River Tyne. Newcastle boasts brilliant shopping opportunities from the Eldon Square Shopping Centre as well as the nearby complex of Gateshead Metro Centre.Durham & Angel of the North (full day)A thrilling piece of art located on the outskirts of Newcastle, in Gateshead, The Angel of the North rises 20 metres high above the Tyne & Wear landscape with a huge wingspan of 54 metres. You can also see the famous Tyne Bridge, a beautiful through-arch bridge from Newcastle to Gateshead - craftsmanship which cannot be missed. We then make our way to Durham, a handsome university city set on the peaceful banks of the River Wear. It is also home to an array of historic buildings, most notably the Norman Cathedral and the 11th-century castle; both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Overlooked by its World Heritage Castle and spectacular Cathedral, the city is a magnificent place, steeped in history and culture as well as a vibrant shopping destination.
