Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Eden Project, Plymouth Hoe, Dartmoor, Princetown, Brixham.
Nestled overlooking Tor Bay, the lovely seaside resort of Paignton is often overshadowed by its more prominent neighbour, Torquay. But with a wonderful sandy beach, long and level esplanade and many wonderful seaside attractions, it really does offer a quieter and more leisurely alternative. It also boasts a quaint harbour, small coves and illuminated gardens, while enjoying the temperate climate welcomed on the South Devon coast, assisted by the Atlantic jet streams. Venture further afield and we take in the spectacular Eden Project and the wilderness of Dartmoor, as well as visiting Plymouth Hoe and Brixham.
**Please note it is a condition of travel with Grand UK, for all passengers to hold valid travel insurance for the duration of their tour.**
Itinerary
Excursions
FULL DAY: Today we visit the impressive Eden Project, built as a global garden telling the story of man's developing relationship with plants. The project creates three of the world's climatic zones - our own temperate climate outside and inside, plus giant 'covered biome' conservatories for the humid and warm regions.
FULL DAY: This morning we head to Plymouth Hoe, an elegant promenade and gardens offering spectacular views across Plymouth Sound. Here there is time to take in the views and stroll the bustling harbourside before we return via the wilds of Dartmoor, calling at Princetown, the highest town on the moor.
HALF DAY: A half day tour to Brixham, an ancient fishing port which is still busy today, while the modern marina has yachts protected by a half mile long breakwater, offering an alternative view of the town
