Itinerary
ItineraryDay 1Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France on a bed and breakfast basis.Day 2Continue to our hotel in the Lake Garda area, where we stay for the next six nights.Day 3 - SirmioneWe enjoy time in one of the most postcard-perfect towns in the area. Set on a picturesque peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a beautifully-preserved town with a turreted 13th-century castle and maze of narrow, cobbled streets full of lovely shops and cafés.Day 4 - VeniceToday we explore the unique city of Venice. Lining the canals are grand palazzos, many of them dating back to the 14th century, while other attractions include St Mark's Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the waterways.Day 5 - Day at leisureDay 6 - Optional Excursion to Verona (£25pp)We head to Verona, one of Italy's oldest cities. Forever associated with Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, Verona has much more to offer than the legendary balcony that lovers flock to from all over the world; the ancient Roman amphitheatre and majestic Piazza Brà are just some of the many must-see sights here.Day 7 - Scenic Lake GardaWe enjoy a scenic coach tour of Lake Garda, with its shores fringed by elegant period villas, lakeside resorts and historic towns plus olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains.Day 8Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included.Day 9Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

The stunning city of Venice harbours a wealth of artistic and architectural wonders, hardly changing for 600 years. Although now very much a popular place for tourists, it still retains its romantic charm and appeal.
