From here we discover the highlights of idyllic East Sussex, including the elegant resort of Brighton, the iconic landscape of Beachy Head and famous 1066 Country, with visits to the charming towns of Battle and Hastings. There is also the chance to explore more of the area on our optional excursion to Chichester and Arundel to complete a delightful few days on the South Coast.What's Included?

Included ExcursionsBrighton & Beachy Head (full day)We head to Brighton, popular for its iconic tourist attractions such as the oriental-style Royal Pavilion with its exotic architecture and stunning interiors. Enjoy a stroll along the famous promenade or head to the 'Lanes' area, crammed with quirky boutiques before we head along the Sussex Heritage Coast to Beachy Head. These dramatic 530-ft high chalk cliffs provide stunning views over Eastbourne, the English Channel, and the famous red-and-white lighthouse below.1066 Country (Battle & Hastings) (full day)The delights of 1066 Country await, stopping first in Battle, the scene of William the Conqueror's famous victory. Our next stop is the coastal town of Hastings, which boasts the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror and a lovely preserved Old Town with half-timbered houses and narrow streets.Optional ExcursionChichester & Arundel (£14pp) (full day)Our optional excursion takes us to the market town of Chichester, which began as a Roman settlement. Historic remains are still evident today in the town centre, spread around the market cross along with hidden gardens, secret waterways and a range of cafés. We then make our way to Arundel, with its fascinating past and contemporary culture. Nestled around a fairytale castle, the pretty streets are full of cosy tearooms, art galleries and quirky antique shops.

Brighton
Brighton is a cosmopolitan seaside resort offering handsome squares, gracious terraces, fine crescents and distinguished architecture. It offers many attractions for the coach break visitor, from music festivals, arts and culture to great shopping, nightlife and the fabulous seafront.
Brighton became a popular destination with day trippers from London during the 18th Century after the arrival of the railway in 1841 and during the Victorian era saw the building of many major attractions including the Grand Hotel, along with the West and Palace Piers.


Eastbourne
The popular and elegant seaside town of Eastbourne is one of England's most appealing resorts famous for its miles of award winning, clean and sandy beaches.
Often referred to as one of the sunniest places in the UK owing to its sheltered position alongside the famous Beachy Head cliff, Eastbourne is a spectacular place to visit.
