Description
We begin the day in historic Knutsford, where the monthly Makers Market will be taking place. This is one of the flagship artisan markets in the North West, offering 175 stalls that cover three streets throughout the town. You will have ample time to browse a wide selection of handmade gifts and the very best in local food, drink, art, craft, and vintage. Knutsford was the inspiration for Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford; the author lived in Knutsford for many years and is buried in the churchyard of the beautiful Brook Street Unitarian Chapel. This afternoon we take an unforgettable journey on the Anderton Boat Lift, dubbed one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Waterways.’ The experience includes a cruise on the River Weaver and a journey on the boat lift itself, lifting you 50ft onto the Trent & Mersey Canal, followed by free time in the Visitor’s Centre before we return home.
