Itinerary
23rd DecemberAfter joining the coach, we make our way to our hotel and check in.Christmas Eve - StamfordOur Christmas Eve excursion is to the picturesque Market Town of Stamford, widely regarded as one of the finest stone towns in England, with a variety of 17th and 18th-century stone buildings, secret alleyways peppered with alehouses and no fewer than five medieval parish churches. It's no wonder that Stamford has formed the backdrop for TV costume drama Middlemarch and the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice!Christmas DayChristmas Day is a lovely day of celebration as our hotel provides a hearty Christmas lunch with all the trimmings followed by Christmas cake, tea and coffee plus a light buffet dinner in the evening.Boxing Day - Warwick Castle & Stratford-upon-AvonWe head to Warwick Castle, one of the most well-preserved medieval castles in Britain, which has stood for over 1000 years. Behind the mighty walls lie grand interiors such as the Great Hall and lavish State Rooms while the atmospheric dungeon brings to life some of the darkest times in the castle's history. Our Boxing Day continues on to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace and a busy, attractive Tudor town of timbered buildings and, of course, famous theatres. Fans of the Bard can visit the house in which he was born, and there's a chance for a refreshing riverside stroll.27th DecemberAfter breakfast, we check out of our hotel and head for home.
