Edinburgh at Christmas time is truly magical! From November onwards, the city transforms into a winter paradise, complete with Christmas markets, ice skating, festive experiences and much more. The festive markets in the city centre are a popular highlight where you can enjoy delicious food and drink and traditional crafts at the heart of East Princes Street Gardens. Within the Peebles Hydro Hotel they have their very own Gin Distillery, this festive break includes a Distillery Tour as well as Sir Walter Scott's Abbotsford, one of the most famous houses in the world, standing on the banks of the River Tweed.

Just imagine: fairy lights twinkling in the trees; bustling markets selling all kinds of festive goodies; and warm drinks and delicacies from across Europe. Enjoy panoramic views of the capital from the top of the Big Wheel, or brave a spin on the waltzers. Aside from the festive markets, Edinburgh's city centre is a great place for shopping, whether you're looking for high-tech gadgets from leading department stores or a designer outfit from the boutiques in Multrees Walk\n\nGin Distillery Experience - Moffat, Abbotsford & Scotts View - Sunday\nFrom splash to sip at Peebles Hydro Gin Distillery - Of course you'll begin with a glass of G&T in hand before a lesson in Hydro history and all things gin. Then the tour will move to their gin distillery where you'll see the famous copper still 'Felicity' in action and taste a few of their favourite 1881 gins. Experience included.\n\nHead southwards to Moffat, nestling in the heart of Southern Scotland, this vibrant, bustling town offers the warmest of Scottish welcomes and plenty for the visitor to see. Continuing on through the Yarrow Valley to Abbotsford where Scott became the biggest-selling author of his day and the fashion for Scots Baronial architecture began. The rooms visitors can discover at Abbotsford were left just as Scott kept them after his death and are packed full of the fascinating items he collected. Amongst them is one of the best examples in the world of an 19th Century writer's personal library. Listen to the audio guide as you walk through the rooms to experience all this historic house has to offer. Admission included.\n\nJust a short drive to Scott's favourite viewing point - Scott's View, overlooking the River Tweed. The story is told that when his funeral cortege was making its way to nearby Dryburgh Abbey from his home at Abbotsford, the horses stopped, unbidden, at the spot - they were so used to stopping there during Scott's visits to the area. Returning to the hotel for dinner.\n\n\nDay 4 Breakfast and depart heading south with ample comfort stops on the way to interchange.

The building dates from the late 19th century and is surrounded by forest. Each room features classic décor finished in lightly coloured tones. \n\n\nAll rooms have free Wi-Fi, a TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, heating and a bathroom with free toiletries. there is a lift to all floors, some ground floor rooms and some walk in showers.\nYou can enjoy lovely views when enjoying breakfast or dinner in the restaurant.
