HIGHLIGHTS: Lynton & Lynmouth, Dunster, Exmoor National Park, Bideford, Bude, Barnstaple

Set amid the dramatic coastline, with marvellous sea views and magnificent surrounding countryside, it is easy to see why Ilfracombe is such a popular touring centre. Built around its ancient harbour, and nestling snugly into the breathtaking Atlantic coast, Ilfracombe was simply made for holidays. Explore the narrow lanes leading down to the harbour, the craft shops, famous beach tunnels and traditional seaside shops, and discover the lush rolling Devon countryside and the wild beauty of Exmoor on our included excursion programme.

Itinerary

Excursions
FULL DAY: A lovely full day excursion taking-in the enchanting North Devon Coast, Exmoor and 'Doone Country' - the landscape that inspired the classic novel 'Lorna Doone'. We visit the unspoiled medieval village of Dunster, dominated by its romantic castle and once described as 'a perfect relic of feudal times'. Then it's past Minehead to the lovely twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, set one above the other and linked by a cliff railway.

FULL DAY: A full day excursion to Bideford and Bude. This morning we head to the historic port of Bideford, across the bridge that spans the River Torridge, to the busy quay. There is time to explore the narrow streets before following the traditional Atlantic Highway into Cornwall and the seaside resort of Bude with its magnificent golden beach.

HALF DAY: Today's excursion heads for the ancient market town of Barnstaple, where there is time to shop in the historic Pannier Market for Devon specialities such as clotted cream and lace.

Joining Your Grand UK Coach Holiday
For 2024 we have introduced improvements to our network of local pick up points across the eastern, central and southern England, aimed at shortening your journey times and getting you away on holiday more easily and conveniently, meaning an altogether more relaxing start. We now have two pick up regions so your travel days will be more convenient, providing more efficient journeys, meeting your tour manager and fellow travellers earlier and in most cases arriving in resort earlier, please refer to our Pick-ups section below for more details.
The Tour Ref below indicates whether the tour departs from Area A or Area B by having either an A or B at the end. For example, GUK5A would be a tour departing from Area A.
