A week of sea, sand, sunshine and sangria on Spain's glorious Costa Maresme. You'll find Calella set beside a long golden beach of coarse sand, looking out over the sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean.

Crusader Holidays uses an interchange system, taking place at either Beaconsfield Services (M40), South Mimms Services (M25/A1M) or Thurrock Services (M25).

Here you may have to change to your holiday coach and we are renowned for ensuring that this is smooth and efficient.

The holiday coaches typically depart from Beaconsfield Services at 11.15, Thurrock Services at around 09.30 and South Mimms Services at 10.30. Some customers find it more convenient to join direct at the interchange, please let is know when booking if this is the case.

Your Itinerary
Day 1 - From interchange travel to Dover for the short ferry crossing to Calais. Continue along the autoroutes of France to your overnight hotel with bed & breakfast.

Day 2 - After breakfast, continue through France crossing over the Pyrenees and over the border at Perpignan, arriving early evening in Calellafor your 5 or 6-night stay with breakfast and dinner
October 2024 includes lunch.

Day 3 - 6 or 7 - At leisure in Calella with excursions as stated below. Your driver will be able to assist with ideas for local visits and excursions.

Barcelona - (2023 & 2024)
Travel to the Mediterranean city of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia. There are two official languages spoken in Barcelona: Catalan and Castilian Spanish. Steeped in history and tradition, culture and the arts flourish in Barcelona and there are many examples of the distinctive style of Gaudi, Spain's most famous architect. You'll find magnificent architecture and excellent shopping in the famous Ramblas. Colourful flower stalls and street entertainers abound, adding to the city's unique character. Blanes & Lloret de Mar (August 2023 only)Enjoy a change of scenery and join an included tour along the coast to Blanes known as the Gateway to the Costa Brava - Catalonia's wild coast. Blanes is blessed with 4 kilometers of wide, golden-sanded beaches and 'blue flag' quality seawater.Finish the day off with a short drive to Lloret de Mar. It may be one of the Costa Brava's largest and liveliest holiday hotspots, but Lloret de Mar's history goes back more than a thousand years. Throughout its transformation from fishing village to dynamic regional tourist centre, it has kept its distinctive personality and fiery spirit, apparent today in its vibrant nightlife!
Girona -Tuesday ( June & Sept 2024 only)Northern Catalonia's largest city, Girona is a jewellery box of museums, galleries and Gothic churches, strung around a web of cobbled lanes and medieval walls. Reflections of Modernista mansions shimmer in the Riu Onyar, which separates the walkable historic centre on its eastern bank from the gleaming commercial centre on the west. Pick up some Catalonian treats at their fabulous street market! Returning to Calella late afternoon.

Montserrat & Codorniu Cava ( August 2023 only)
The fascinating history of Montserrat goes back to the ancient 9th century when a group of shepherds found a hidden wooden statue of the Virgin Mary in one of the many caves hollowed out in these rocks. Since the 11th century a community of Benedictine monks has taken care of this holy place in their monastery. You can walk around the Monastery and visit the Basilica for free and you can also view the Black Madonna with no charge.OPTIONAL EXCURSIONBesalu - Short day. ( 2024 only)A historic gem, full to the brim with character, Besalu is a magnificent example of a medieval town.Cobbled streets and facades and a wonderful bridge are the trademarks of Besalu.The stone, bricks and cobbles that make up this historic town have been there for hundreds of years and theimpressive architecture draws visitors from far and wide. Situated in the La Garrotxa region in the province of Girona, Besalú is a haven for history buffs, who flock in huge numbers to admire the many constructions and facades representing Romanesque, Gothic and medieval influences. More details from your driver.Day 7 or 8 - Retrace your steps through France, stopping for lunch opportunities en-route, before continuing to the overnight hotel for bed & breakfast.
