Newquay & the Cream of Cornwall – Turkey & Tinsel
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival
After joining the coach, we make our way to our hotel and check in. Later we enjoy a mulled wine reception together.
Day 2 - Penzance & St Ives
We head to Penzance, nestled in a sheltered position in beautiful Mounts Bay. The town boasts an attractive seafront promenade, sub-tropical gardens and award-winning Cornish pasties. Next is the Cornish holiday town of St Ives, a delight to explore all year round. Wander through the maze of cobbled streets admiring the pretty cottages, stroll along one of the sandy beaches or take in the artwork on display at the Cornwall branch of the Tate Gallery here.
Day 3 - Optional excursion to Port Isaac & Padstow (£14pp)
For our optional excursion, we first visit the quaint fishing village of Port Isaac, made famous by Doc Martin and Fisherman's Friends. Stroll through the narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages and look out for one of the narrowest alleyways in Britain - 'Squeezy Belly Alley'! We then continue to the charming port resort of Padstow. Famous for its connection to Chef Rick Stein (whose restaurant is based locally), the town is renowned for its harbour, from where you can enjoy some stunning views with a delicious pasty or some vinegary chips in hand. This evening we indulge in a traditional 'Christmas' dinner with all the trimmings back at the hotel.
Day 4 - Falmouth
We visit Falmouth, a delightful port town and popular sailing destination with a proud seafaring history and fine beaches. It is home to the deepest harbour in Western Europe and other attractions include Pendennis Castle and the National Maritime Museum Cornwall plus charming cafés and shops. Back at the hotel this afternoon, we enjoy tea and Christmas cake.
Day 5 - Return Home
After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and head for home.
