Your Itinerary
Day 1 Journey northwards with comfort stops en-route to Liverpool for your 4-night stay in your centrally located 4* hotel in the Ropewalks District. Porterage on arrival DBB\n\nThe Ropewalks area of the city takes its name from the craft of rope-making for the ships that dominated the area in the 19th century. Since then, it has become a cultural hub for independent shops, restaurants, bars, nightlife and galleries.\n\nDay 2 - 4 At leisure in Liverpool with one included excursion, Liverpool guided city tour and one optional excursion\n\nLiverpool with Guided Tour\nAll board for an informative tour of Liverpool with a local guide to see the famous sights on an orientation of the city. Afterwards there will be time at leisure in Liverpool to explore under your own steam. There are many innovative museums and galleries to visit as well as a cathedral (and one to spare!). Liverpool city centre is often referred to in 'quarters' from the Georgian Quarter to bohemian Ropewalks, Chinatown to the Baltic Triangle, the Waterfront to the Cavern Quarter. There is a regular hop on, hop off city explorer sightseeing bus (not included) with bus stops located near the main sight. Enjoy a second full day at leisure in Liverpool if you decide not to join the optional excursion\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSION\nPort Sunlight Village & Ness Botanic Gardens\nA morning visit to 'Soap King' William Hesketh Lever's idyllic Port Sunlight Village (entrance included) for a fascinating insight into life in the late 1800s. The village was constructed as a home for workers at his soap factory, Lever Brothers, and today features a captivating museum, beautiful architecture, a world-class gallery and stunning parks. Afterwards, enjoy a visit to the superb award-winning gardens at Ness, situated on the Wirral Peninsula overlooking the Dee Estuary. Founded in 1898 by Arthur Kilpin Bulley, a local cotton merchant with a passion for plant collecting, the gardens were donated to The University of Liverpool in 1948 by his daughter. Ness is open all year round with seasonal flowers, shrubs and trees, a beautiful rock garden, enchanting Laburnum arch and spectacular herbaceous border.\n\nOPTIONAL EXCURSION\nHistoric Chester\nWhen it comes to beautiful cities, Chester is one of the best and should be on every one's wish list! Chester has a unique atmosphere and sense of history, founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago, much of the Roman influence remains and Chester's city walls are the most complete in Britain. In every corner of the city you are confronted with history - from the oldest racecourse to the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, from the 1000-year-old cathedral to the 700-year-old unique shopping rows.
