Itinerary
Lancashire - so much to offer
Day 1 - Journey northwards with comfort stops en-route towards Bolton for your 3-night stay in the Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel. Porterage on arrival.\n\nDay 2 - 3 At leisure in Lancashire with two included excursions.\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSIONS\nEast Lancashire Railway (ELR) & Bury Market - Saturday\nStart your day at the northern end of the ELR at the heritage station of Rawtenstall where you step back in time for a nostalgic trip aboard the East Lancashire Railway (may operate by steam or diesel). Enjoy the journey through the beautiful Lancashire countryside to the market town of Bury where a warm welcome awaits at the world-famous Bury Market, the undisputed champion of the North. Attracting hundreds of visitors every week, Bury Market oozes atmosphere and ambience with a range of products and facilities second to none. Bury Market makes a great trip out and is fully accessible for disabled visitors. Expect great people and great characters and over 200 unique stalls to explore across a Market Hall, Open Market, Fish & Meat Hall and Market Parade. From exotic indulgences to everyday necessities you're sure to find what you are looking for at Bury Market.\n\nConcorde & Salford Quays\nHead to Manchester Airport Runway Visitor Park for an opportunity to marvel at a unique piece of aviation history and engineering with a tour of the iconic Concorde G-BOAC. Affectionately known as Alpha Charlie, it was the second Concorde to be delivered to British Airways in 1976. Considered to be the flagship of the famous fleet. Concorde was the world's first supersonic airliner and was in commercial use for 27 years until operations ceased in 2003. On a fully guided tour, stroll underneath the airliner and then climb aboard to sit in the luxury leather seats as your guide tells the story of the aircraft and its ground breaking technology (NB there are 26 steps to climb aboard Concorde with handrails on both sides). Concorde is housed in a hangar, so please dress warmly in case of cold weather. There is a cafe and a unique aviation shop on site.\n\nReturn to the hotel with a stop in the unique waterfront destination of Salford Quays. This impressive, redeveloped docklands waterfront is where you will find MediaCityUK, home to the BBC and ITV.
