Join us as we head south to Cornwall and the pretty fishing village of St Mawes for our St Mawes and Poldarkās Cornwall tour. Discover a rich landscape where Ross Poldark and Demelza lived out their dramatic lives. Based on the novels by Winston Graham, Poldark was one of the most successful TV Adaptations of all time written from the authors home in Perranporth. Journey through beautiful scenery to enjoy coastal views, picturesque villages and historic towns as we explore Cornwall and Poldark Country, experiencing historic harbours and rugged, wild coastline.
Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey south to Cornwall and the Ship and Castle St Mawes with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Tuesday
This morning following breakfast we head to the Grade II listed port of Charlestown that featured prominently in 'Poldark'. The harbour was built in the 18th century to support the china, clay, and copper mining industries. In the afternoon travel to Mevagissey, a picturesque fishing village with colourful old buildings and picture-perfect 18th century harbour.
Wednesday
Today following breakfast, we take a half day excursion to Padstow, a delightful fishing port with a quaint fishing harbour made famous by Rick Stein's popular TV series, allowing time for you to explore and have lunch before heading back to St Mawes for free time to explore at leisure or relax at the hotel.
Thursday
Today following breakfast we visit the bustling city of Truro with its flowing rivers, picturesque streets, 18th and 19th century town houses and magnificent cathedral that dominates the city, allowing time to explore and have some lunch. In the afternoon we continue our journey to Falmouth to explore bustling cobbled streets with a charming mix of shops and art galleries. Perhaps visit the National Maritime Museum.
Friday
Following breakfast check out of our hotel for the journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
