Join us as we head to our hotel on the outskirts of Swansea for our Wondrous West Wales Tour. Spend free time exploring the waterfront city, the second largest in Wales, discover castle ruins, the marina, art galleries and museums, explore the largest covered market in Wales and adjoining Quadrant Shopping Centre with a visit to the national Waterfront Museum in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter. Journey to the vibrant seaside village of Mumbles at the gateway to Gower a wonderful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the beginning of the Gower Peninsula, with views overlooking the magnificent curve of the bay. Go back in time on a visit to the Gower Heritage Centre, a working 12th century, water powered mill with guided tour of the coach of the Peninsula . Enjoy a day at The National Botanic Garden of Wales with over 500 acres to explore there’s plenty to see and do, discover the Great Glasshouse, a magnificent structure housing some of the most endangered plants on the planet which come from six areas of the world. Itinerary
Monday:
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to Swansea with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
Tuesday - Thursday:
Full day - Following breakfast we make the short journey into Swansea to spend a day of free time to do as you please. Perhaps join one of the Hop on Hop Off Buses which circle the city every half hour, a great way to make the most of the city and take in the sights. Cardiff Castle is well worth a visit, discover 2,000 years of history when you walk through the gates of one of Wales' leading heritage attractions. Cardiff has seven magnificent Victorian and Edwardian Arcades, nestled amongst the big high street names, they house over 100 independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants right in the heart of the city offering a truly unique experience and not to be missed.
Full day - this morning following breakfast head to Swansea's Maritime Quarter to visit the National Waterfront Museum, a striking architectural landmark, the museum celebrates the industrial and maritime history of Wales dating back to the 1800's, followed by a scenic drive along the coast to spend a couple of hours in Mumbles at the beginning of the Gower Peninsula, and 'Gateway to Gower' a wonderful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the town is cosy and cosmopolitan with magnificent views, high end shops in fact over 120 shops, boutiques and quirky galleries yet steeped in history and tradition, today we also include a visit to Gower Heritage Centre with a short guided tour on the coach of the Peninsula.
Full day - following breakfast journey to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales for a wonderful day out.
Friday:
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
